Bulgarian Man Tries to Kill an Italian Female Police Officer

The 50-year-old Ivan Iliev was apprehended by the Italian police after trying to murder a police officer in the city of Taranto. Charges have already been pressed against the Bulgarian.

The conflict began with Iliev bothering some people on the bus stop in front of the railway station in Taranto. They complained to the nearby police patrol. Naturally, the officers went after the man, who tried to hide inside of the railway station. As they caught up to him, Iliev pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the officers (a woman) three times near her heart. Luckily, only the jacket of the police officer got damaged - the woman's cell phone, stored in her jacket right in front of her heart, saved her life. According to police reports, Iliev is a former boxer.
