Bulgarian Man Gets 6 Years in Prison for Not Paying 180,674 in Taxes

A Bulgarian man is facing at 6 years in prison for not paying thousands of leva in taxes.

The 45-year-old Alexander T. from Varna was sentenced by a court in the city for evading taxes by going abroad. His prison term for the crime will be 6 years. The man avoided paying 186 674 leva by using falsified documents. The evasion occurred between December of 2010 and March 2011. Subsequently, Alexander T. was nowhere to be found on his official addresses, so the police put an international search warrant.

According to Novini.bg, the man worked for “Smart Petroleum” and is a university graduate. Previously, he was sentenced 15 times for different types of fraud and theft. There’s speculation that Alexander T. may also be involved in drug trading. His previous sentence was for an almost identical crime and sum – evading the payment of 186,662 leva. He got 5 years for that in 2015.
