Over a Million Bulgarians are not Working. And do not Intend to.

A statistic by the National Statistics Institute in Bulgaria suggests that 1,3 Million people of working age are currently unemployed and are not considering finding a job. The employment in this group (15-64 years) is 67.5% which indicates a yearly increase of 4.1% in employment rates. 

The number of employed people over 15 is 3.167 million - 1.7 million men and 1.46 million women. From them, 572 thousand are aged between 55-64 (or about 58.7% of people in this age range). The unemployment coefficient is 5.6% and the number of unemployed people is 189,3 thousand. This shows that the number has dropped by 11.9% since the last quarter of 2016 and the coefficient has dropped by 1.1%. The statistic also shows that 16.8% of all unemployed people are graduates, 48% only have a high-school degree and 35.2% have only graduated middle school or even primary.
