Bulgarian Immigrant in Australia Donates 1.4 Million AUD to the Art Galleries in Sofia, Bulgaria and Sydney, Australia

A Bulgarian migrant in Australia gave 1.4 million AUD worth of art to the National Gallery in Sofia.

Margarita Zaneff, a woman that migrated to Australia in the 1960s with her husband and son, passed away in 2016. During her lifetime, Margarita was an art lover and collector. According to her lawyer, Zaneff’s will specifically mentions the significance art can have for society as a whole.

That is why in her will, Margarita left half of the money from selling off her real estate to the National Gallery in Sofia, while the other half would go to the Sydney Art Gallery of New South Wales. The overall donated sum is around 2.8 million AUD.
