Gallup International on how Bulgarians feel About the Istanbul Convention

About 85% of Bulgarians have heard about the Istanbul Convention, a new Gallup International study suggests. From the ones that have heard about the controversial document - 58% are against its ratification, 19% support it and 23% remain undecided. According to the study, the opinions are the same regardless of the social group. A certain deviation is to be observed among GERB supporters. There - one-third accept the Convention while two-fifths are against it.

The survey shows another interesting tendency. In relation to the most recent topics that have been circulating in mainstream media - people seem to be supportive of check-ups and control when it comes to institutions, politicians, and income of the upper class. A total of 78% of the surveyed people believe that it is never too late to establish the origin of another person's wealth if there is even the slightest doubt. However, 20% seem to not agree with this notion.
