The President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev commented that hundreds of thousands of the Bulgarians live in poverty and social exclusion. He opened a roundtable on "Inequalities and Poverty in Bulgaria", where scientists with a research interest in the field presented reports, Actualno reported.

According to the head of state, it is our responsibility to break the patterns in which these inequality levels reach these dimensions and added that it becomes too noticeable when social and economic systems are ineffective.

In his statement, Radev has also drawn attention to the fact that poverty in the society is generating corruption and crime, and poverty, in the form of lack of justice, education, health, and safety.

"Inequality leads to distortion of all systems in society. Inequalities today in Bulgaria are far from any average indicators," he added. According to Radev, Bulgaria is talking more and more about stability and GDP growth, but attention needs to be paid to poverty as well.
