23% of Bulgarians Consider Searching For a Job Abroad

23% of Bulgarians consider looking for a job abroad. This is the result of a nationally representative sociological survey of the “Sova Harris” agency, announced Actualno. 54% of the respondents even say they already have an experience abroad.

95% comment that the main reasons they leave are the low wages, a better social system in other countries, and a better healthcare. 32% of the people believe that if they leave Bulgaria, they will return after 5 years. And 85% of respondents would look for work in an EU country.

64% of those intending to look for work abroad are men. 60% are from 18 to 40 years old, and 80% live outside the capital city Sofia. 34% are ready to go abroad without a pre-signed employment contract.

38% would not agree to work abroad if they received a salary here between BGN 1,000 and 2,000; 36% - between BGN 2000 and 3000; 14% - up to BGN 1000. Only 1% say there is no salary to motivate them to stay in Bulgaria.

A higher percentage does not approve the measures to attract workers from third countries.
