EWRC to Investigate Whether There is Manipulation of Free Market Electricity Prices in Bulgaria

The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission to initiate an investigation of the manipulation of the current free market electricity prices. The reason for this is the business's signals for a drastic jump in the price of the energy exchange. The motivation of employers is that in other European countries such an increase in energy exchanges is not observed.

The Commission will check all participants who sell power on the independent exchange, including state-owned companies. The inspection is expected to be completed by 4 months at the latest.

The chairman of the KEVR, Ivan Ivanov, added that the working group will have to determine whether there is manipulation of the energy market or attempts to manipulate it, as well as whether there is "trading with inside information", Darik News reported.

A new price change of household electricity is not expected, despite the increase in natural gas.
