Georgi Parvanov: "There Will be No North Macedonia"

"There will be no North Macedonia. Let us initiate the country to be admitted to the EU and NATO with the name Republic of Macedonia, with which we have recognized it from the beginning". That is what Georgi Parvanov - President of Bulgaria from 2002 to 2012, said in an interview for bTV.

He defines the referendum as rather unsuccessful and the question - misleading. This is also the reason for the low result, in his opinion. He believes that people who have not voted are actually against the change of name, not against membership in the EU and NATO.

Regarding the criticism of Rosen Plevneliev, President of Bulgaria from 2012 to 2017, to the current President Rumen Radev, Parvanov noted that certain borders have been crossed by personal attacks, and criticism should be on policies and strategies. He advised President Radev and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to stand next to each other and talk about national priorities.
