Bulgarian Orthodox Patriarch Calls For Medical Donations

October 15 marks the 73rd birthday of Bulgaria's Patriarch and Sofian Metropolitan Neophyte. For his birthday, his Excellency called for people to donate to a charity campaign for buying a ROTEM SIGMA apparatus for the maternity ward at Sheinovo Hospital. The equipment is used for diagnosing blood loss in patients with severe health issues.

On his birthday, the Patriarch will visit Troyan Monastery, one of Bulgaria's holiest sites and home to the Three-Handed Virgin icon of Mary. A liturgy in Neophyte's honor will be served, wishing him good health and success in leading the Bulgarian Orthodox church. The Church's official press release states: "Expressing a wholehearted gratitude to everyone, his Excellency wishes good health, peace, love, and success in all endeavors." The official bank account for the charity can be found here.

Earlier this year, Patriarch Neophyte suffered from health issues himself, but luckily recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
