200,000 Bulgarians Show Some Sort of Gambling Addiction

According to a survey from last year, 53% of men and 44% of women participate in some kind of gambling, says psychotherapist. More than 200,000 Bulgarians, or 3% of the population, show some form of gambling addiction, “24 hours” reported.

Psychotherapist Anna Todorova commented that in the riskiest groups are the young people, who are more impulsive, as well as people with low education, living in poverty, and the pensioners. In addition to these, the genetically predisposed to addiction, as well as those who "replace" the dependence - for example, in an attempt to stop alcohol. According to her, some popular gambling games should be treated as another type of drug and casinos should be forced to devote money to educating young people.

She advises close relatives not to give any financial, emotional or other help to the addicted ones. The statistics on the various forms of addiction among young people in the modern world are extremely negative. Young people are addicted to different things - diets, alcohol, smoking, drugs, sex, psycho-religions, electronic and video games, computers, gambling, etc. Social environment, psychological factors, genetic predisposition also have an impact.

The "Bet on Yourself" project, in which psychologists and psychiatrists are invited to comment and interview and present statistics, practices, and personal experiences to prevent addiction, was created to stop the growing tendency of addiction to gambling games.
