Wizz Air Had a 24% Increase of Bulgarian Customers in 2017

Bulgarians are starting to travel more by air, a trend reflected in the rapid growth of the European budget airline Wizz Air. According to a company press-conference in Sofia, Wizz is one of the fastest-growing airlines in Europe right now.

28 million customers went through Wizz’s planes in 2017, which is 24% increase in comparison to 2016. 2.5 million out of those customers were Bulgarians. The company expanded its flotilla of aircrafts with 14 new planes – 13 Airbus A321 and 1 Airbus 320. More airplanes mean more flights. Wizz announced a new route between Varna and Vienna recently.

József Váradi, the co-founder of Wizz Air said: “2017 was a year of massive expansion for Wizz Air. We achieved a significant growth in all aspects of air travel and laid the grounds for the next decade.”

Wizz is also struggling to improve the quality of their service while staying competitive in the cheap flight market. Hopefully, they can find a way to get rid of the shameful overselling of flights that are common with many airlines today. Recently, Wizz Air left dozens of passengers at Sofia Airport.
