People in Dobrich, Bulgaria to Protest the Foreseen Increase in Water Prices
Heidelberg, Germany -
Unhappy citizens of Dobrich are preparing a protest against a decision that will be voted behind closed doors by the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation. There will also be an open discussion between the people of Dobrich and the local water distributor (ViK Dobrich) on Monday (January 15th). The rumored new price will be 3.28 BGN (1.64 Euro) per cubic meter of water.
The protest is going to take place one day earlier (January 14th, Sunday) at 11:00 in front of the building of the regional government. The protesters are going to cross the pedestrian area of the city and briefly block the traffic on one of the major junctions in Dobrich. However, the event isn't only against the increase in prices but against the quality of the service as a whole - low water pressure, no water during daytime, constant emergencies.
