Traycho Traykov: I doubt the state is trying to save "Dunarit"

"I'm not sure whether "saving" is the correct word or not," former Minister for Economy Traycho Traykov said earlier today in his interview for bTv. Traykov who was part of the Bulgarian government between 2009 and 2012 said that there is a worldwide phenomenon in the military industry. He claims there is a boom of orders  and even the financially unstable factory in Sopot, Bulgaria had to employ new staff members because of all the orders it's getting. The point here is - it seems sort of inconsistent with the facts for the government to try and "save" the military factory in Ruse.

"Maybe the Minister (current Bulgarian Minister for Economy - Emil Karanikolov) has something in mind, but from the information currently available there is no need for the company to be saved," Traykov added. He reminded that the state stepped in and took on full responsibility for "Dunarit"s debts without being asked to do so. This means that now "Dunarit" is in debt of the Bulgarian state. This is a waste of taxpayers' money and an unnecessary intervention.

Earlier this month Tsvetan Vasilev (former CEO of the Coporate Commercial Bank) claimed that both Delyan Peevski and Prime Minister Borisov have an interest in "Dunarit" and its actives. The Ministry for economy tried to make the State Consolidation Company a pledgee to "Dunarit" after it bought its 47 million BGN in debt. That was "Dunarit"s debt to the off-shore company "Viafot" (linked to Delyan Peevski). The military factory, however, paid its debt at once and now the procedure on enlisting the SCC as a pledgee has been blocked. Minister Karanikolov promised to give an update on the situation with "Dunarit" and its debts this Friday (Septmber 15th).
