Bulgarian passport holders can now visit Qatar visa free

Citizens of Bulgaria, as well as many other European countries have been granted access to Qatar's visa waiver program, as a result of the ongoing Gulf boycott of the small Gulf state. Other GCC countries are boycotting Qatar as they accuse it of promoting instability in the region, and have blocked it's airlines from accessing their airspace, banned it's citizens from visiting, and is not allowing any exports to the country.

Previously, Bulgarians, as well as citizens of other Eastern European countries such as Romania required visas in order to visit the country.

Now Bulgarians can access the country for up to 180 days without needing a visa, they simply need proof of an outbound flight from the country in order to gain access. Many of the new countries added to the list, including Bulgaria, now have a more generous period than Western European passport holders - for example British and Irish passport holders can only enter the country for up to 60 days without needing a visa.
