Bulgaria will send Humanitarian aid to Albania

Albania has been suffering from heavy floods all over the country. Bulgaria will send humanitarian aid to Albania in order to help its citizen deal with the disaster.

Due to the heavy rain which has been falling in Albania since the beginning of December, 2017, the river Kir has overflown. The overflow has led to serious floods in the country. Towns in the Tirana, Durrës and Shkodër regions have been evacuated in order to protect the citizen from the floods. In Kashar, emergency services managed to save more than 200 people who were trapped in a flooded shopping mall.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has ordered a care package to be sent to the devastated country to help local authority deal with the disaster. The humanitarian aid will be loaded on an airplane at the “Vrazhdebna” air base and should leave for Albania as soon as possible. Head of the humanitarian aid delivery is Nikolay Nikolov, Chief Commissioner of the ”Fire Safety and Citizen Defence” bureau.
