80 Year-Old Driver ran over a 63 Year-Old woman in Burgas, Bulgaria

In Burgas, Bulgaria, a 63 year-old woman was run over on a crosswalk by an 80 year-old driver.

On December 14, 2017 an 80 year-old driver ran over a 63 year-old woman on a crosswalk. The accident happened in Burgas, Bulgaria on the intersection of “Stefan stambolov” and the “Zornitza” complex. The woman has a fractured lower leg and has been transported to UMHAL Burgas for treatment. By current information, the reason for the accident is that the driver took over the woman’s advantage at the crosswalk.

This accident has brought to Bulgarian public space the question of setting an age limit for driver licenses. This is not the first, neither will it be the last accident, which was caused by a driver well over the age of 70. One of the main arguments in defence of an age limit is that with old age, people’s reactions become duller and their eyesight and hearing considerably worsen. People at the opposition of an age limit claim that forbidding people to drive automobiles simply based on age will be in contradiction with constitutional and international human rights.
