63% of Bulgarians Approve of a Second Nuclear Power Plant

The results of a fast survey by "Gallup International" on some of the hottest topics in Bulgaria have been released. The study suggests that 63% of Bulgarians are in favor of the steps the government is taking to ensure that the "Belene" Nuclear Power Plant gets built. Two days ago the facility was announced a matter of national security, meaning that all public procurements on the facility are now frozen and the government will take on the task on its own i.e without a contest.

Over 90% of people approve of regular check-ups in different institutions. 74% think that there should be a debate on eavesdropping by the government. When asked about exterior policies - 63% deem PM Borisov's visit to Saudi Arabia as positive while 28% are not happy with it. Another subject that was recently brought back under the limelight is Tsar Simeon (the king of Bulgaria) and his pretencies over his family's property before the family got sent into exile by the Communists.

Bulgaria's EC Presidency is coming and 19% of people think that it will stabilize the country. They believe that protests will stop at least for the duration of the Presidency. 38% of people think nothing will change, but 36% believe that frictions between workers and employers will continue growing despite the Presidency.
