Angel Dzhambazki: Erdogan Is Using Muslims to Try and Alter the Borders

Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament, Angel Dzhambazki gave an interview today, analyzing President Erdogan's rhetoric about the revision of the Lausanne Treaty. He claims that Erdogan is pressed by the fact that the war in Syria is coming to an end and that would mean that the USA will be able to pay attention to the Kurdish problem in Turkey.

According to Dzhambazki, the situation in the Middle East will soon change and countries like Syria, Yemen and Libya will never be the same. The MEP also commented that the Lausanne Treaty is important for the Muslims in Trakiya (South Bulgaria) who are, in fact, Bulgarians. "Turkey and Greece are fighting over Bulgarian people," he stated.

Dzhambazki believes that Erdogan sees himself as a unifier and protector of all Muslims. As an example, Dzhambazki used Erdogan's visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina where he stated that Alija Izetbegovic left the country in Turkey's hands. The MEP even claims that Lyutvi Mestan's call for the acknowledgment of a Turkish minority in Bulgaria is also part of Turkey's external policies. "It is all very logical and consistent. He believes that every Muslim must be Turkish," Dzhambazki concluded.
