Car Impaled on a road Barrier in Sofia, Bulgaria

On December 1, 2017 in the region near the TV tower a car has been impaled on the road barrier. The driver has been hospitalized and is in critical condition.

A 33 year-old driver in Sofia impaled his car on the road barrier near the TV tower. The strength of the impact was so severe, that the barrier broke through the hood and the front window of the car. The driver has been immediately transported to the “St. Anna” hospital. Doctors say that the man’s condition is critical, as he has suffered a broken chest bone, heavy trauma of the lungs and a heavy abdominal trauma. The reasons behind the crash are yet unknown.

Over the year of 2017, there have been 6,300 traffic accidents, where 7,900 people have been injured and over 600 have lost their lives. Only for the month of November, 2017 the amount of traffic accidents has reached 500 cases, with 60 registered casualties. The Ministry of Internal Affairs warns that due to the rain and sub-zero temperatures the roads will become more dangerous in the coming months and drivers should show extreme care while driving.
