Bulgarian Minister of Finance Doubts There Will Be Christmas Bonuses for Pensioners

Currently, the Ministry of finance is analyzing the possibility of Christmas bonuses for pensioners. The analysis should be ready until the middle of November but it is not expected that the money will be enough for everybody. Minister Goranov said that when he was confronted by journalists in the National assembly.

He claimed that people are frivolously speculating with numbers. For instance, many people say that there are 2,5 Billion BGN that can be spent freely. Goranov believes this is a false interpretation and concluded that these 2,5 Billion are not actually "left-over" money but rather a resultative amount that cannot be spent mindlessly. In fact, a good portion of the money will pay for the expenses of various ministries and European programs that simply haven't been managed up until now. Goranov believes that by the end of the year the budget will have been completely used. He, of course, did not exclude the possibility of a small amount of money being spared.
