Pensioners Spontaneously Gather in Front of the Bulgarian Parliament. Preparing Nation Wide Protest.

Pensioners came out in a spontaneous protest in front of the national assembly demanding higher pensions and dignified living conditions. The organizers admitted that this protest was not planned but warned about a bigger, nationwide protest this Saturday (November 4th).

The protesters hope that the MPs will hear their demands and take them into account during the final negotiations and votes on the 2018 budget. Some of the protesters claimed that MPs salaries come from the taxes pensioners have paid during their 50+ years of work. A woman complained that her pension is only 388 BGN (previously 380 BGN) and that she is an engineer and project manager. The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party - Korneliya Ninova went to meet the protesters and accepted their demands.
