5-story tower built in a garage in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria

A 5-story tower was built in Veliko Tarnovo. That sentence may not seem all that unusual at first, but the building was erected in the small space of 20 square meters previously occupied by a garage. According to a local newspaper, the construction was deemed completely legal and safe by the local authorities. There are rumors that the tower will soon house a café, an office, and a shop.

At first, many Bulgarians were left in disbelief to the odd construction. The picture of the tower circulated social media, and many claimed it was fake. The crooked-looking, narrow construction didn’t seem like it would be built in a European country with any sort of city planning. But apparently, it was. The Veliko Tarnovo newspaper “Borba” claims that the construction is completely legal and approved by the town’s authorities.

The owner is a man by the name of Vergil Asenov. Reportedly, his masterpiece of construction took 10 years to build.
