The “Good Samaritan” shelter for the homeless in Rousse, Bulgaria has received over a ton of canned food, beans, cooking oil, pasta, cheese and frozen meat in a big donation in celebration of the day of charity October 19, 2017. The food has been gathered by the local Complex Oncology Centre, during their campaign “Feed a Friend”.

The director of the “Good Samaritan” centre has been quite thankful towards all of the donors who have taken part in the campaign. He later added that the centre is in a constant need of food products, so everyone who wants to make a donation of food towards the centre is free to do so. According to data shared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Politics, about 6,000 homeless people get a warm lunch every single day of the week. Still, even though a high number, it is quite under the needed threshold. The number of homeless people in the country has been on a constant rise, due to the current socio-economic situation and until some preventative measures have been found found, all other solutions will only have a temporary effect.
