An old man from Polski Izvor drowned along with two women from the villages Livada and Ravnets. One of the victims of the flood may have died from a heart attack. A fourth casualty is speculated, a woman that had a stroke. Her status remains unconfirmed.

The flooding is due to heavy rain – 100 L. per square meter in Karnobat. 7 small levees were broken, though experts claim that they couldn’t have caused such a massive flood. A large portion of the area was evacuated, with the emergency services receiving 77 signals. Many houses were flooded and power was cut off from the villages Cherny Vruh, Trastikovo, Ravnets, Livada, and Polski Izvor.

Many roads were found under water this morning and access to the flooded villages and towns will prove difficult.
