Bulgaria is last in the EU on Internet Usage

Statistical rating released by Internet World Stats placed Bulgaria on the last spot in their EU internet usage chart. According to them, a little less than 60 per cent of the country’s populace uses the internet.

Internet World Stats reports that Bulgaria is last on internet usage in the EU. According to a chart released by the company, only 59.8 per cent of the country’s population are active on the World Wide Web. Factually, this means that from the 7 million people living in the country, 4.2 million are active internet users, 3.3 million of which are current members of the Facebook social platform. Primary reasons behind this may be the rapidly rising average age of Bulgarians and the high amounts of illiterate school dropouts.

Internet World Stats has placed Romania just before Bulgaria with 62.8 per cent active internet users. On top of the chart are Ireland with 93.8 per cent, Great Britain with 94.8 per cent, Denmark with 96.9 per cent and on first place is Luxembourg with 97.5 per cent of the population being active internet users.
