Work Meeting between Yordanka Fandakova and the Mayor of London took Place in Sofia, Bulgaria

The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova and the mayor of London Sadiq Khan had a meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria. Together they discussed their impressions and plans for the development of their cities.

The mayor of London Sadiq Khan visited his Bulgarian colleague Yordanka Fandakova in Sofia, Bulgaria. The mayor of the British capital congratulated Fandakova on her work on the development of the metro system in Sofia, which has experienced rapid expansion. He noted that well developed public transportation is important for the further improvement of the town and its living standard. In addition, he said, that cooperation between European capitals is important. London, Berlin, Paris and Sofia should work in close cooperation together and learn from each other’s experience.

Sadiq Khan shared his view for the future of London. He is planning on turning the longest trade street in Europe - “Oxford Street”, into a pedestrian zone. To achieve this, he has been lowering the amount of public traffic thorough the street managing to reach a decrease of 60 per cent.  Sadiq Khan did not spare his flattery towards Bulgarians. He said that he considers the Bulgarian community a community of true Londoners, who are honest workers and responsible citizen who pay their taxes.
